Many individuals are naturally skeptical as to new drugs and treatments, particularly those for serious illnesses, where the side effects can be both painful and of long term detriment to the health of the individual taking the treatment.
Neither Sceletium Tortuosum or Sutherlandia Frutescens are complex new biochemical compounds manufactured in a laboratory, which will require dozens of years of detailed study of patients to determine long term side effects.
They are both completely natural substances that have been used for many centuries in the treatment of numerous ailments and for general health with great success. They have demonstrated a level of safety over a prolonged period of time that few supplements, drugs or food additives manufactured in the last 30 years have.
However, whilst side-effects have been negligible, they do occur for some individuals.
We estimate that, on average, 5% of individuals taking Sutherlandia Frutescens Tablets may experience the following side effects:
- A dry mouth
- Constipation
- Loose stool
- Dizziness in some individuals with severe wasting syndrome i.e those with a Body Mass Index of less than 15.
Sceletium Tortuosum should not be taken with any other psychoactive medication except under the advice of your healthcare professional, nor should it be taken before driving or operating any type of mechanical device as it may make individuals very relaxed.
These side effects are quite mild and do not last long in most cases. Long term use of Sceletium or Sutherlandia has not demonstrated any negative health effects, however, we do highly recommend that individuals who will take the substances for more than 12 months consult their physician.
Additionally, whilst there is a history of use of Sceletium and Sutherlandia during pregnancy producing negative effects, it is not recommended that pregnant women take the treatment at this stage until further research is done.
Sutherlandia Frutescens Gel is not known to produce any adverse side effects at all.
